Silk Orchids coated in iridescent Glitter and hand sewn onto the canvas!

What I love most about this painting is the color palette. You guys already know that my use of color is one of the most distinguishable characteristics of my body of work, and when I stared down at this blank white canvas, channeling "Unicorn Village" I choose this vibrant but soft, ice cream, candy pastel sweetness, which for this particular painting was my starting point.

Only 8 crayons melted completely down but spread very thin which is the reason the colors are soft.

Gold Leaf is another one of my favorite mediums I use in almost every painting and sometimes as embellishments on my print work, and here I used it traditionally, making the simple Geometries as they called to me.

Lastly, I coated the silk orchids in glitter, cause you know, I like to be extra with my Sparkle. The delicate orchids I then hand sewed onto the canvas with a beautiful sliver thread, which is not easy and I poked my finger more than once, another technique I use often in my work! I might need two thimbles instead of one..lol
